Metal Detecting Tips
The Internet is full of great tip on metal detecting. Instead of rehashing what is already out there, here are some great links to get you started. However, I do want to state that you should get permission before doing any metal detecting. That said old schools, ghost towns, old homes, beaches and forts(if ok to metal detect there) are great places to try.
